Indigenous

INDIGENOUS Needing to express this bond, Attempting to encourage others, to understand, Feeling emotions that have uniqueness, To those indigenous within each land. Even those bearing little traces, Of noble, indigenous, native tribe, Have an affinity, infinitely intrinsic, With Mother Earth, viewed with love, and pride. Invasions hordes settled raw country’, Waging war against natives to set new lands free, Without thought, that very cherished freedom, For the vanquished would no longer be. None can dispute the love, ensuing generations, Hold for their birth land, so sadly won. Yet, spare a moment, to consider deeply, Affect of all long past, accomplished, done. Does defeat create inferiority in the vanquished? Are indigenous people second class, due to defeat? Have rights to mourn lost lore, culture, homelands, Vanished, driven to dust by invasions feet? When within the halls of law and government, Indigenous people raise the endless plea, For restitution, equality, return of sacred possessions, Reason, tolerance, acceptance, cannot be? Accepted, each of us shares every nation, Very few bloodlines run pure and true. Our earth has become a melting pot, With every nations genes, mixed through. As Anglo-Saxon, Europeans cling to memories, Seek roots, draw family trees, explore their past, Thus, those indigenous to each land, continent, Have a binder that will always last. Should you see indigenous gather, Seeking justice, attempting to right a wrong, Instead of rebuking, scowling, demeaning, Applaud. Join in their survival song. Please accept that indigenous love, and tie, is greater. Face the reality there, so plain to see. Rejoice in the fact, “they” were here “first”, Build a stronger earth, based on equality, and liberty. Dedicated to the Indigenous populations of the world, fighting the battle for survival.
