Loneliness triumphant
By Grannyrosie
LONELINESS TRIUMPHANT Within the depth of loneliness, No hand to reach, to touch. Comforting presence absent. Soft caress, I miss so much. Tender smiles to greet the morning, Obliterated from this barren world. Company of silence, desolation, No longer by love, enthralled. For one sweet moment of reprieve, This empty vessel would rejoice. A glance, acknowledgement of existence, Yes! Even the echo of a loving voice. This void so dismal, all consuming, Clutches, drawing further, deeper in. Loneliness, cursed nemesis of the fallen, Even sorrow’s tears, as if a sin. Isolated, adrift, disconnected, No warmth to penetrate this cold within. Battle of the heart and mind, Wearing veneer of courage thin. Ah! Loneliness, you have defeated me. Yet another victim of your greedy pursuit. Destructive, demeaning, undermining, Alas! Your power I cannot refute. Written January 2nd, 2002 © on Jan 02 2002 04:01 AM PST, Patricia Rosenberg 0 • 1
