Nature's death
By Grannyrosie
NATURE'S DEATH Discordant, dying shrieks possess these ears, Crashing, crushing undergrowth, Transfixed, I, with arms imploring, Outstretched towards the sky. Fear, Profound, alarming knowledge, Time has come. A growling, roaring , alien sound, Permeates the very Earth around. Behold! A beast of might!, Erupts within my sight, Mass of metal, blackly shod, Bright, malevolent, glaring eyes, Demons God. Around, friends, family, Offspring beloved, Surrender to this Earth. This, Which nurtured for untold time. Such savage, brutal end, be also mine? Death's serrated blade does strike this breast. Acknowledgement that, I, too must fall, A right and fitting end to I and mine? We?, That stand, proud, straight and tall? Weep Earth, Weep sky, Weep Gods, Behold, the beauty of creation's plan. Destroyed, dececrated, no more. Unthinking act of God's image, Man. Another tree, another forest, Yet, Ah!, All too soon does man forget, They, who would protect, Hold this planet together, Against the wrath of evil's plot Provision of sweet, clean air to breath. Shade against relentless eye of Sol, A haven whence, to live, to hope, where lovers stroll. Yet, in dying breath I see, A seed no less, In debris part of me. That it should, flourish, germinate, grow, For generations yet, of man to know. Natures beauty, this day erased, My descendants will survive, Till next slaughter time, does arrive Written December 15th, 2001 © on Dec 14 2001 09:58 PM PST, Patricia Rosenberg 0 • 9
