Quiet please
By Grannyrosie
QUIET PLEASE Why must my neighbour mow his lawn, Just when my Muse arrives? He stops, I start, Oh!, Bless his heart, The whipper-snipper up the path. The kids WILL belt that great big ball, (It's made of lead I think) Up and down the pavement, Could drive a girl to drink. The whining of electric drills, Will send me mad I'm sure, When I think quiet has set in, They party on next door. The man across the road he has, A voice of foghorn sound, While dogs around this neighbourhood, In packs, I'm sure, abound. I wander to the rivers edge, Tranquility to seek. An outboard motor rushes by, Then from the corner of my eye, I shriek in terror as i see, In the distance, A jet-ski. I only want some quiet place, To entertain my Muse. The frig is running,Oh!,So loud, And in the park there is a crowd, Laughing, and a drone (not bee), A noisy model plane I see. I hide my head beneath a rug, Ear plugs are firm in place. A torch to see, a pen in hand, the batteries die, cant understand! Into the country for a drive, A sheltered spot to find, Apart from ants and buzzing flies, This scene will hasten my demise, PICNICERS!!!!!! I settled for the local pub, You scarcely would believe, A heavy metal band arrived, With haste I had to leave. I want to write some poetry, My Muse would like it too. With all the noise around me now, I think I'll try the zoo. Written December 15th, 2001 © on Dec 15 2001 09:13 AM PST, Patricia Rosenberg 0 • 14
