Sitting In A chest of Drawers
By Grannyrosie
** Sitting in a chest of drawers, White enamel, chipped, gloss obliterated. Grimy, dust covered, long unused, Rings from coffee cups, Obscene halos of addiction. Sifting debris, discarding, Memories unwanted, removed from here and now, Fading in to obscurity, Reflecting negativity, Rubber bands, perished. Hoarded mementoes, cluttering, Fluff balls creating curves in corners. Thumb tacks and paper clips colliding. Assignment, nominating toothpick, Cleaning crevices and cracks. Twin eyed fasteners vie for recognition, Seeking partners in folded paper. Tiny globule from pain explosion. Pressed rose, departing leaf, Binding worn on torrid tome. Alloy circles hiding furtively, Crumbs from hidden midnight fantasy. Sweet brownness, sticky under nails. Foil glistening, announcing, Fabricated innocence tales. Discard in its entirety, Grey shining plastic envelope, Swelling with irregular pattern. Slide aperture shut, resolute. New day is dawning. * Written February 14th, 2002 © on Feb 13 2002 11:07 PM PST, Patricia Rosenberg 0 • 1
