THE MONSTERS AT GRANDMA'S HOUSE I used to visit Grandma and Grandpa, But I got so scared, ya see, Every time I went there, Some monster came after me. Well, I wuz very little, like two. I thought it was a great big monster. Rattling and banging through the house, Frightening every cockroach an mouse. I’d hide under the covers and pillows, So he could not find me or see, The terror and tears upon me face, Just how much he frightened me. Well, then I got to be four years old, Big an strong, an really tough. Reckoned I could take on that monster, Wiv Karate, kick boxing, an all that stuff. Ya wouldn’t believe what happened tho, I found out it was a dragon lived there. Bellowing, blowing smoke an fire, His tail beatin away in the air. Next time I went there, I wuz five, Old enough to fix him up good. Took along me water cannon, and ray pistol, I truly believed I could. DINOSOARS is what it was. Mobs of em stompin around. What I didn’t understand was, Why didn’t Grandma hear that sound? I hadda go again that year, Boy! I was so scared, fulla fear. I knew those noises would come again, Would ya believe, this time, a steam train? I heard it, really, chuff, chuff, chuff, Smoke stack blowin, puff, puff, puff. Wheels were rattlin on the track, Whistle blowing, smoke billowing from the stack. I hadda nough by now ya know. The place was haunted, well, I thought so. Hadda do somthin to sort things out, Ran to Grandma with a great big shout. They didden hear me. Ya wonder why? Packed me bags, ready to go next day, Had this place, never comin back to stay. Jest couldn’t take it never no mores, The MONSTERS where grandma and grandaddys snores Written December 21st, 2001 © on Dec 21 2001 10:50 AM PST, Patricia Rosenberg   0 • 14
