Walk with me
By Grannyrosie
WALK WITH ME Come, take a trip, down to the beach, Stand hand in hand with me once more. Recite The Ancient Mariner, Standing barefoot, on the shore. Feel sand trickle between your toes, Water sloshing in and out, Gentle waves wash over feet, Shut your eyes, feel complete. Experience that gritty substance, Let your mind roam pure and true, Feel that gentle tickle, movement, Sneaking past, and snaking through. Take a few steps further, There, the waves lap on your knees, Invite them to embrace you, Gentle as a summer breeze. That slap, slop, slap, there at your back, As sea returns past you, Feel the surge under your feet, Seems like you are moving too. Another step, a big wave rolls, You’re wet from head to toe, The salt invades your nostrils, Lips are wet, aglow. Taste that salt, a simple lick, Like tear drops, I believe. Quickly, another large wave comes, Shall we stay, or shall we leave? Of course we stay, walk further, Feel the waves around our thighs. Rejoice in the life of the sea, Breath in, then gentle sighs. Behold! Are your ears open? Can you hear those sounds I hear? Swishing, swirling, pounding, curling, Running, rippling, rolling, reeling, What a most ecstatic feeling, Standing, listening, to one so dear. Now! Open up your eyes and view, Wondrous sights in front of you. Mass of living, giving ocean, Constant with celestial motion. Breakers there, on rocks do crash, Rock pools placidly shimmer, like glass. Far off horizon glimmering there, Dolphins dance, without a care. Let me take you by the hand, Let us go down to the beach, Recite The Ancient Mariner, Grasp the beauty within our reach Written March 6th, 2002 © on Mar 06 2002 11:17 AM PST, Patricia Rosenberg 0 • 10
