I love You Though You Never Were

By Gunslinger

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I Love You Though You Never WereI love you though you never were...Nor ever could exist...Except in labyrinths of the mind,Among those psychic mists.A vision; optical delight...Green eyes, and raven hair...The grace of some vague nymph, or spriteYou're waiting for me there.Where? Beside the crystal sea-Whose waves lap at my feet...Where unicorns and satyrs, gay-So joyfully meet.Where winds of perfumeStreets of gold... seize, and hold a spellUpon unwary sojourners...And make them wish to dwell...Among the long forgotten scenesThat only legends knew...Where gems, and jewels lie aboutThick as the morning dew.I love you though you never were-And yet you know me well-And every vagary of mood...Ere cometh you can tell. You know my heart and all my faultsAnd love me just the same..And in my melancholy dreamsI hear you call my name.Your name? I know it, 'deed I do-But I shall never tell....And even though you never were..My dear, I love you well. Written September 3rd, 2001 © on Sep 03 2001 08:46 AM PST, John R. Yaws   0 • 10
