Nightmare
By Jet
Another sleepless night. Tangled blankets tossed aside. I can't keep doing this to myself. Waking up in a cold sweat, A scream still dying on my lips. Images as real as anything I've ever seen Still stuck behind my eyes. The dawn will not bring comfort. The light can't chase away these fears. Only you, with your voice, your touch, your love; Can rescue me from this hell I've discovered. Only you can save me from myself. I want to laugh at the irony But I'm scared I won't be able to stop. Do you see what it does to me when you leave? All these fears manifest themselves Conspiring against me Until I don't know whats real or not. And I wait for your call, Wearing holes into the floor. Fighting demons only you can dispell. Until the phone rings at last. So loud in the sudden silence, And finally I hear your voice. I feel the terror leave me As it flees your comforting words. Only to return when you leave again. And you can never understand it. Written November 8th, 2001 © on Nov 08 2001 02:20 PM PST 18 • 0 • 1
