Starting Over
By Jet
It is winter in my heart. Soft snowflakes adorn the frozen ground. No song birds grace the wild blue sky... They have moved on to a warmer place. No animals hunt or play in the valleys of my heart. They too have moved on... Hunger and cold drive them from home. It was not always this way. Not long ago the song birds flew Danced in the clear blue skies. Their joyful song echoed softly Over the grassy hills below. Then THEY came... In all their self-rightous ignorance. Ignoring my warnings...my pleas. Until it was too late. Far too late. They reduced me to nothing, Murdered my spirit with their creations... I did not bring winter. They did. Men...The unstopable race... They destroyed themselves. Destroyed their world... The trees shiver in the chill air Frozen branches chattering angrily...hopelessly. They are my only company in this glacial place. They too would leave me if they could. Screaming ice forms a morbid symphony Echoing the breaking of my heart. I watch as my world frosts over... Watch what I created vanish beneath the ice. Forever lost to the sands of time. The legacy of Man is over... In the artic air I ponder, What will take thier place?Don't ask me...I was bored in calculus class...Didn't know intergrals could inspire poetry. ;) *shrugs* Tell me what you think.
