The Last Unicorn
By Jet
The last unicorn has fallen. Her spirit sings no more. Her beauty and her magic Belong now to myth and lore. Elves and dwarves have left this land, In search of better things; A safer place, where unicorns May fly on glittered wings. In a world where hope is a whisper Of a dream lost long ago. Where shattered dreams and promises Adorn the ground below. Can one believe in fairy tales When all the love has fled? Is magic even possible When innocence is dead? The last unicorn has fallen. And my childhood is dead.Whew...so good to get that out. It's been stewing in my head for a LONG time. I feel like that last bit is too abrupt...but maybe that's what this poem needs. Any thoughts?
