Unknown Soldier
By Jet
I lost a friend today. In this our finest hour. His death has stained the world with red And turned our victory sour. Today the world rejoices For the war is at an end. I look around but all I see Are the bodies of my friends. In fields of waste, where the dead lie Amid the melting snow I stand and listen quietly For the bugles' final blow. As the sad notes fade away You may rest at last, Knowing that your memory Will stop repeats of the past. Lest we forget the prices paid By the friends who've gone away, I can only ask forgiveness Of those who died today.Wrote this for a Rememberance Day ceremony years ago.
