Your smile came obliquely, from the corner of your eye, and your greeting came so meekly that it caught me by surprise I thought that love would come with a thunder and a boom. Who would suspect a quiet hum across a crowded room. The conversation stilled. There was only you and I. My heart had stopped and yet was thrilled. My breath became a sigh. That was so long ago.
