Yesterday
By Johnna
Yesterday I was looking for your face in the crowd. Many years have passed, your no where to be found. Images of you have guided me through this life. Keeping you away, not gone, hoping for your return someday. Talking to you over the years meant a lot to me. But you know me, I never liked to listen. Today, I truly needed you to be near. With no where to turn, I wanted to hear. The touch of your hand and the sound of your voice, Let me know I could let go and stop running. No more guilt, the family lied. Making you a grandma at an early age didn't make you die! God, needed you in heaven, he knew your help was needed Above to watch over the family you loved. You done it, Mama! Rest now, your little girl is going to be all right. Thanks to you my wonderful mother. I know you will never leave my side. This was a poem written to my mother and letting go of 20 years of guilt that make me go almost over the edge over the years.
