Clear Gray Eyes

By johnqpublic

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Her clear gray eyes see beauty all around her even where other eyes see only misery and squalor Yet she doesn't see the kind of beauty hidden only to herself she doesn't hear the wisdom and insight in her own words she likes to say 'I can't;' in fear of failures that never come she has stood upon a stage portraying someone's nameless sister but a time will come, someday soon for her to step into the light She can be seen, by others' eyes blossoming, step by step into the strong and graceful creature she is destined to become Her clear gray eyes see brilliance from across a room but when her clouded mirror clears she will see the pure bright light that shines deep within.
