Internet Explorers

It was a chilling night all over the city; the internet explorers' ship was grounded. The city was plunged into darkness as all the explorers' screens faded to blue. meaning no more instant stock quotes marching across screens like little green soldiers as signals of the city's massive wealth; no more come-ons from cigar-chewing lenders inviting broke explorers to mortgage their houses, cars, dogs, & wives for fat wads of instant lucre no more hot babes with glistening lips inviting horny explorers to come hither no more steamy chats with with vixens who hide their warts behind the universal vanishing cream of anomymous fingers tapping on keys & no more ego massages for lonely poets who'll have to resort to dead tree pages or forfiet their dreams All over the city the hue & cry & hubbub focused on one thing who's to blame? The courageous explorers launched a probe & the head net detective finally stabbed an accusing finger at those evil cybergremlins! Their malevolent tentacles had ensnared the vital machinery of the net. Their quest: Destruction and domination! They aimed to bring the mighty city to its knees and leave the valiant explorers in quivering heaps, pleading for mercy. The hierarchy came to a consensus to enlist the city's the aid of the city's powerful cyberhero: a mysterious figure in black mask & cape, whose name is spoken only in whispers: The Webmaster. Blazing across the landscape in his grand silver chariot, The Webmaster wrathfully wielded his great cruel blade leaving legions of cybergremlins' shattered bodies scattered across the earth. The surviving fiends howled in rage and agony that The Webmaster had single-handedly vanquished their conquering force; first triumphant, now dejected, they knew that their sole option was to flee Suddenly, all over the city darkened screens blazed to life and the internet explorers' tremendous vessel rose in triumph above the ground and resounding cheers rose from the populace; the city's way of life had been saved from certain doom.
