I Hated Poetry
By johnqpublic
I hated poetry dreams distilled in graceful words I hated the honeyed voices of poets who stole the musings in my head & made them as beautiful as stars that fill a cold night sky I despised the dancing strings of words fueled by despair or triumph lust or love they made me feel so inarticulate as if my mind were made of dust poems I saw & heard where like sky diamonds that I could not touch Those could create these things were a mystery to me- gods that walked the same earth as I yet it seemed their feet did not quite touch the ground poems were cruel to me touching feelings I wanted to hide inside a sacred vault held deep within my heart I hated poetry until a time of despair & loneliness moved my hand to reach for a pen and draw diamonds in the sky....based on a true story.
