Lazy Muse

She kicks off her shoes and tells me "No work for me today" despite my anxious pleas To please her I rub her shoulders (always soft & warm) then brush her tangled hair Butterflies & bumbleblees float from between her curls I pay no attention I speak to her (with my ever desperate "please") she replies with sounds of flutes & fiddles I do not listen For her happiness I've built strong stone walls to enclose the lush tropic garden where she lives She only climbs my ramparts seeking freedom She seeks assurance that I love her and that I'm not just using her for pleasure but she responds to my sweet talk with bitter tears leaving me wet & shivering & seeking shelter She knows how I love to touch her but to tease me, she flees from my embrace & when I give chase I only stumble then lie bruised among the fragrances of her rainbow colored blossoms I can only hope that very soon she will return to me with her sweet caresses...Sorry folks; writer's block for me today. She'll be back; she knows how much I love & need her. Written December 19th, 2001 © on Dec 19 2001 06:27 AM PST   10 • 0
