L's Dream Lover

By johnqpublic

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

The lover he writes about has silken skin & a voice like honey she whispers softly in his ear as her delicate hands caress his body Never does she have a harsh word for him; only words of love & kindness He is a poet respected in many quarters; he's read his works on the evening news and he can be seen in the green corners of his city, pen & notebook in hand, recording dreams about his lover He covers her in roses (the kind with no thorns) & spills his devotion over closely scribbled pages A bright young woman who'd just heard him read the praises of his sweet love marveled at the tenderness in his graceful words When she asked who was so beloved to inspire all these words of passion he mournfully answered, "I wish I knew."...based on a true story. And no (in case you were wondering), this is not about me. Written December 13th, 2001 © on Dec 13 2001 05:03 AM PST   10 • 0
