A Flower Opens...

By Jonathan Wikkins

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

When a flower opens,     many things come into bloom… But many more things,     must happen first. First a kiss by the sun,     which allows it’s eyes           to reopen… Then a simple caress,     by a gentle breeze           upon it’s ear… Like fingers caressing it’s skin,     softly ruffling it’s hair… The breeze can be warm,     or cool… And it can be placed,     anywhere along it’s body… As it opens,     its nectar flows freely,           pooling where petals               come back together… Sometimes this nectar can be sweet,     or just a little sour… It all depends on what     it wishes to attract… No two flowers wear     the same fragrance,           for different flowers,               attract different things… But flowers have     the same purpose,           to attract something               they always attract… The petals soft as silk,     all have a purpose… To attract something it must,     in order to set seed… © Jonathan Wikkins December 6th, 2001 Revised February 24, 2008 All Rights Reserved Written December 6th, 2001 © on Dec 06 2001 04:52 AM PST, David Michael Shurtleff   nature • love • adult
