Always and Never Again

By Jonathan Wikkins

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

When you went away,     your love for me,           became obvious               shortly afterwards… My love for you,     also remained           as it was… I also know     that It will never again           be returned,               in the way I wish it to be… I never wanted to say,     some things that I now feel           that I must. One thing I must say,     is I will move on with my life,           without you               as you would have it. As you sacrificed yourself for me,     to find love again,           to find happiness again… Even though,     I now realize,           my love for you,               will fade in time… I must release you,     from my heart,           for I cannot move on,               still in love with you… I know, if it’s possible,     that you will help me           through the tough times,               to come… But still,     I must release           my love for you,               for I wish to love another,                     as I loved you… So I must say, now,     I release my love for you,           I don’t want to,               but I must… There is something else     I wish to say now,           it is something else,               I never wished to say… Something I never had the opportunity to say,     so I must say it now… Goodbye,     my love… I will see you again one day… Goodbye… © Jonathan Wikkins November 13th, 2001 Revised February 10, 2008 All Rights Reserved Written November 13th, 2001 Revised February 10, 2008 © on Nov 13 2001 11:40 AM PST, David Michael Shurtleff    angst
