Lucky Man

By Jonathan Wikkins

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Like the song says:     “Oh, what a lucky man, he was…” One day, just a few years ago, a lady walked into his life;     they lived, laughed, and one day, loved… They grew together; laughed together; loved each other     more than life itself…           Till one day… The angels came;     and took her away from him…           He was lost… Thought he would never be found again;     but he was… Then one day, another lady walked into his life,     she had a smile that wouldn’t wait,         a heart as big as the sun;               a love in her heart,                   so deep,                         there seemed to be no bottom… At first, she did not know what to expect,     he was torn; having lost his love…         For his heart needed mending…     His soul needed rest…     His laugh had gone away,     for a while… She was patient,     but unsure… No one is till they know, what it is truly like,     to loose someone, so special… But she waited for him to heal,           and heal he did… He always knew,     his heart was large,           big enough for two… Then  one day,     his new lady           knocked on the door to his heart,               and his other ladylove                     swung the door wide open,                         and invited his new lady in… There they will live;     there they will grow… He will visit them,     many times a day… One he knew a while ago…     one he knows today… It is sad to say,     so many people,         do not know what love               is really like… But he does,     for he knew the love,           of not just one,               but two… Those people do not know,     what love really is… They never     truly experience it… They look,     and then look some more,           but never truly find it… But he did… To have a love so special,     just once,           is rare indeed… To have a love like that     twice in your life           is almost unheard of… But he did… That is why     he is such a lucky man… For he found true love, not once     but twice… So you may ask,     how do I know? This is how…     For that man,           my friend,               that man… Is me…           Oh…     What a lucky man… I am… © Jonathan Wikkins October 15th, 2001 Revised March 7, 2008 All rights reservedyou will notice that I have placed another name here, Jonathan Wikkins... that will now be, my pen name...unless, of course, there is another by that name...
