That Day

By Jonathan Wikkins

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I went somewhere one day,     that day… It is a place where I had been,     many times before… But never for why     I went there, one day… It is nothing but a piece of ground,     but, I went there to dedicate it           to someone I loved,               more than my life itself… Most people who do this,     just simply plant a stake,           so the crews know               where to dig… But I went to this special place,     for a special reason… To dedicate,     that piece of ground,           to you… I don’t remember,     all that I said,           that day… But I know it was long,     and gave me much comfort… But in the end     of what I had to say… I dedicated     that piece of ground,           to you… For your final resting place… © Jonathan Wikkins October 18th, 2001 Revised February 20, 2008 All Rights Reserved Written October 18th, 2001 © on Oct 18 2001 02:36 PM PST, David Michael Shurtleff   angst
