The Battle has Begun

By Jonathan Wikkins

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

It is I,     the gentle muse… Once again,     I have returned… This time,     with a report… The battle has begun… Evil has tried     to gain the upper hand… But good is fighting back… It won’t be an easy fight,     but hopefully,           good will win true… For all mankind… This fight is     to keep the forces of good           from joining together… Mistrust is its method,     this time… And it fights dirty… It fights within our minds… It fights within our hearts… It fights to even win our souls… So those it can’t turn,     will not trust those others           who need them… It is an almost invisible fight… That is what makes it     such a difficult battle… You never know     whether you are           fighting someone,               or someone speaking                     through them… Until, suddenly,     it becomes crystal clear… Then you almost     don’t know what to say… But you must keep on fighting,     and keep your motives good… And, perhaps,     the battle can be won… For us all… I shall continue     to report things           as they come… Keep checking back… It is I,     the muse… I shall return… © Jonathan Wikkins March 31st, 2002 Revised February 24, 2008 All Rights ReservedWritten March 31st, 2002 © on Mar 30 2002 04:36 PM PST, David Michael Shurtleff   spiritual • hope • dark • life • society
