The Lady and I

By Jonathan Wikkins

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

We went through life,     apart for a while,           the Lady and I… Then, one day, we crossed paths… We looked for a while,     then we laughed for a while,           and sorrow came in… The sorrow was a blessing,     in disguise… For I learned much from it,     and so did she… We learned about each other,     how we each felt,           and who we were… When the sorrow was over,     we were still there… It had tested us,     strengthened us,           made our lives,               lives that could join… We joined for a while,     we stopped for a while,           but we came back,               back to each other,                     for it was what we needed… Our eyes gazed into each others,     our hands held tight,           as our hearts opened to each others,               and our eyes,                     looked deep                         into each other’s souls… We would become one,     one day… One in spirit… One in heart… One in mind…     and… One not two           against all odds… Times tried us,     times that stood still… But all in all,     we loved,     we laughed,     we played,           till the end of time… © Jonathan Wikkins November 29th, 2001 Revised February 11, 2008 All Rights Reserved Written November 29th, 2001 Revised February 11, 2008 © on Nov 29 2001 08:21 AM PST, David Michael Shurtleff   love
