To Love Another

By Jonathan Wikkins

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

There is one thing in life,     we all must do,           from time to time… There is always another,     to love… When life passes,     phases of that life           make it happen… The dark times we all face,     must be… For without them,     goodness and light,           Are not apparent… For within that light,     love comes… Without it,     there can be no light… The greatest gift of all,     is love Love of a spouse… Love of a brother or sister… Love of a child… Love of your fellow man… Sometimes it appears,     that love is taken away,           but it is not… It only changes,     from one form to another… For the dark times,     must be,           within us all… We are all given     amounts of love,           just different amounts               from person to person… Those with no love are evil… For they are incapable     of love in any form… How do we know? We do not… For the Evil feeds     upon our hearts,           and our soul… It deceives… Yet, we must still     look into our hearts… It will not be easy… For the Evil,     deceives our hearts… Yet, when it is not near…     our hearts,           damaged by its evil,               as they are,                     speak to us through them… They allow us to heal… They allow us to grow… Till we are ready to love,     again… Only this time,     to love another… © Jonathan Wikkins April 11, 2002 Revised March 3, 2008 All Rights ReservedWritten April 11th, 2002 © on Apr 11 2002 03:05 AM PST, David Michael Shurtleff   love
