Imagining Myself
By K chan
Sometimes I imagine myself Wind on the water, flowing free Sometimes I imagine myself As what I think "me" to be I see a song about to be sung I see a poem not yet written I see a hung and weary head While starry-eyed and smitten In the mirror, eyes of blue Secrets that I've never told Shields to hide me from you Petals that I've yet to unfold Sometimes I've looked within Tried to determine what is there Sometimes I've looked within To locate my heart's flare I find a thought unspoken I find a dream not yet made real I find a tear I haven't shed A promise that no one would seal Inside of me, my battered soul Tempered now, to be strong I hide it all about me Where it's been, all along I never knew what happened You never would say You never guessed I would remember Each and every day I see myself, I do not lie I see what is inside Deep within my falling heart Where my trembles won't subside Every action, every step Made me what I am right now Every word, every memory Every tear that I allow I stumble on a broken chord To be helped along the way Music that inspires me Words that help me to stay Sometimes I try to guess What you would have me do Sometimes I try to guess What goes on inside of you I wonder if like me you know The secrets of your mind I wonder if you'll search for them Be amazed at what you findJune 12th 2001 (12:32PM), One of my all-too-common self reflection pieces, though this one happens to be a song.
