My Jim

By kaz4sim

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

She begins her long journey, To a place long ago Locked deep in her memory, Only seldom to show She has wisdom and knowledge, Beyond all of her years She has seen more than most, Cried rivers of tears Each line tells a story, On her tired weary face Of a childhood forgotten, In a dark dreary place A place filled with sadness, No love to be found In a dark dingy home, With no mother around Emotions run wild,Of utter despair With tired tattered clothes And lice ridden hair When of age she became Tossed out in the cold With no place to live No hand there to hold It’s amazing she thinks How lucky that day When dear darling Jim Came passing that way He offered her friendship A home and a start And the first time that love Had penetrated her heart It wasn’t much longer That they both fell in love And that was the first time She thanked god up above Soon there were kids How lucky was she? A loving dear husband And a warm family Life dealt her some blows She’d tackled them well Now wars’ been declared This time she’d face hell Jim had to enlist Despite pleading and tears He’d fight for his country And eradicate fears He’d stood there so proud In the kitchen at noon Full of male bravado And how he’d be back real soon She remembered that day With her heart filled with pain The children excitedly Waving off daddy’s train Alone once again But this time not scared Her Jim would return Oh how she wasn’t prepared The letter was posted Through the large wooden door Her beloved dear Jim Would walk through no more Her grief was tremendous It enveloped her soul Her world had collapsed Left a large gaping hole She looked to her kids Who needed her now She had to find strength But she didn’t know how Somewhere in the dark Came a soothing sweet sound Don’t weep so my darling For I am always around She struggled through life With emotionless eyes A painted on smile That covered the lies And here as she sits With a shawl draped around On her own in a room With silence as sound She’s come a full circle Ended up in a home The kids all grown up She’s back on her own Bitter sweet memories Of a life filled with woe “Here comes my Jim now I really must go” “Death’s a release Which I welcome with ease I’m in the arms of my Jim Don’t grieve for me please” Written October 21st, 2001 © on Oct 20 2001 07:37 PM PST   0 • 1
