Grandfather

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Poor shattered man.hobbling along with fisted hands.Twisted sneer, wrapped upon his face.Bitter fear, fractured your place.Your world so carefully planned.Undone now by the my youthful hand.Reserved away from your heart’s concern.I’ve existed with this emptiness that burns.Tired haggard man, subsisting as you can.Stolen from me pieces of my past. With your one decision cast. Now I’ve come to take what you’ve denied.I can find the truth in these sorted lies.Preserved within your silent presence. Are those things you’ve kept with diligence.Time may not always heal all wounds. But it give ways for most to conclude. You ran from me and cast me aside. You gave up and it was only you that did decide. As a man you took upon the consequence. So as a man I’ve come to atone for penance.Give me my birthright. You’ve hid that from me whole life.My whole life my family told me my paternal grandfather was dead. I never believed them. When I was 21 I dug up his military records and found him very much alive. Written November 23rd, 2001 © on Nov 23 2001 02:12 PM PST   18 • 0 • 1
