High School Loner--A Sonnet
By KissTheSkyPH
Let those who are by petty things enraged Make to their slender rings of whispered news And keep themselves in such affairs engaged As keeps them well equipped for social cues And while they feed their virtue to their roles And dance around ambition tainted whims Pass judgment on pretended mirror souls Absorbing consequence in sun burned limbs. But I myself will stay among the shade Which better suits a soloist inclined And drives back elements that seek to fade Fair reason and the diamonds it may find. More happy thus immersed in lonliness Than those in their endeavors to impress.March 2001, This was a school assignment to emulate a Shakespearean sonnet. I just like it.
