As it is in a Dream

By Kristin Johnson

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

my pillow is a porthole to another space, an arena that has no maximum capacity, no stubborn ceiling to determine me. awake, i adopt reserve. i follow circumstance and the various conditions that hold me back and prevent me from exploration and time. in sleep there are no obstacles to obey. i can, i will have my way with colors and illustrations and words i never thought to use. holding tight to this bravery, resisting departure or eventual realization of my false identity-- my life as it is in a dream.
