The Song of the Wind on Broken Wings

By kyew

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

When I am afraid I speak your name in awe of the strength in this talisman. Would you hold me on a cold, dark night when the only sound is the song of the wind on broken wings? Would you comfort me in your embrace whispering the meaning to the song of the wind on broken wings? When I am alone I forget your name captured by the cruelty of the gods. Could I forgive when the storms lash and howl at me of the song of the wind on broken wings? Could I forget when I awake in the night hearing your name in the song of the wind on broken wings? When I have escaped, I listen for your name but it doesn't come to mind and I die. Could I relive those few simple moments of blissful peace before the song of the wind on broken wings? Could I deny the chill grip of death while my soul screams the chorus to the song of the wind on broken wings? But life would not be as sweet because it is I who sings the Song of the Wind on Broken Wings. After intense critical processing at Sharepoetry, I'm satisfied with it. Please feel free to critique though. Nothing is perfect. Written March 31st, 2002 © on Mar 30 2002 11:54 PM PST, R. T. Howard   angst • lyrics
