Asleep
By Leylia
You slip into a heavy darkness, Light fading and consciousness Settling like a barometer down, Down, Down, Down, you fall, Farther, and it's pulling. Compelling. Tantalizing. Even AROUSING. You long for it, Yet you Fear it. For what could be lurking... UNDER THAT BUSH! BEHIND THAT TREE! What terrible, hideous, monstrous, horrifying, grotesque CREATURES Could emerge unseen from that inky temporary future For which your very soul itches, twitches, Tweaks, peaks, and longs? We fear, you recall, that which we do NOT UNDERSTAND yet our nature Would have us, in searching for that ever-elusive ANSWER, Draw near and nearer still to the non-understandable. You stand, body warm BLOOD COLD, Pondering this fickle characteristic we possess, And realize too late that IT IS, in fact, TOO LATE: You have somehow, in standing still, Drawn TOO CLOSE, and it HAS YOU!!!! You cannot struggle. You cannot scream. Your eyes roll wildly in their aching sockets, Desperately seeking some escape from this seeming NIGHTMARE. Then. Quiet. Clarity. Relief. Vision. A cool hand on your forehead. A warm breeze through the chimes of your mind, Sounding a perfect chord of color and comfort. With some weary, quiet acceptance, you fall.when i finished this, it had a comical kind of tone to it that reminded me of those old horror movies from the fifties. you know, the kids making out in the backseat and they get slimed or something. thanks for reading.
