Celtic Stirrings

By Linrose

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

There I stood, on the peak of a hill,Eyes affixed on the twilight sky;Nicotiana infused the air with its scent,Heather cushioned my feet in coolness.Earth, sky, and myself, together in silence,Communed with spirits dancing in breezes; My long flowing gown frolicked wildly around me,As the rising moon shone through its gossamer shield.Outlined against the deepening dark sky,A traveler might imagine me a priestess in prayer;Yet, upon listening, would have heardSoft love chants from my heart.Mantras borne by messengers of wind,To alight upon the heart of my one true love;A joyous tear found its way down my cheek,As the echo of your heart reached me from afar. There I stood, a lone figure in ritual,Conjuring your magical arrival;Arms worshipping the sky, as I chanted aloud,A zephyr beguiled my coppery hair. All at once I felt trembling beneath my bare feet,As if in response, clouds shrouded the moon;I shivered, not in fear, but in mystical foresight,Awaiting your egress from the void of time.Eyes bound to the stars, I beseeched them to guide you,To these moors, where I stood, ancestral grounds of our souls; The trembling turned thunderous as hooves pounded earth,Each clap resounding louder as destinies collided.Through my mantle of hair, eyes shone like beacons,To penetrate the mists, from which you emerged; Then familiar stirrings held us enchanted,Celtic hearts joined once more, in ancient love.
