Memories of Twilight
By Liya
So many memories fly pass so many memories touch me by not a tempest, not a pandemonium just a feather light touch and a sigh Of a lost world woven in melody Of times in a dreamy haze of people long gone of laughter turning fade I see a hawk gliding by... no more the playful shrieks we were so chastised for nowhere a word you can hear but the whispers in the air, in the rustlings of the leaves they are so near... they don't leave me by My breath catches in midway Is someone standing beside? no...it's just the breeze playing silly... I rather push it aside I see some faces in the walkway they are not the ones I seek My loved ones...my sacred ones... are they anywhere to be seen..? Those kids are playing hide & seek but that's not the game to play You can just climb the tiled roof over there and it will reveal the hide-away You should rather play catch-me-if-you-can here that's what I used to say Ron used to disagree he was always a stubborn kid anyway (I wonder what his kids now might have to say) hey I swear I heard a sigh! what might it be..? ..'cause the person that that sigh belonged to is no more to be seen I have the telephone I can call her up the time zone doesn't matter but what's the use...why bother she might just ask my name Memories of midnight Memories of the twilight Memories woven in melody memories to be left aside Dawn shines over this bungalow as it did before sunlight flickers through the mangroves in the same way only the person who used to stand here watching it with me is some couple of thousand miles away the avalanche of memories the calligraphies of the past... why bother...why pursue they weren't meant to last I might as well get a move on a minute of my precious time is already gonemy ever-precious childhood days...
