Blinky was a charming lightbulb Not very bright by which to read, While intensity and smarts she lacked She was a warmhearted friend indeed Anytime you opened up a storybook She smiled at all the wordy pages, Delicious recipes for a budding cook Blinky even shined patiently on birdcages To keep Tweety safe, And out of harm’s way Sweet Blinky was naïf, She burned out one day Her outdated bulb turned black The dear’s little light faded inside, Yet she just fought right back With anger, tears, and pride Blinky refused to let go She didn’t want to die, Life had amused her so ‘Tho never knowing why She just knew that it did By making people so pleased, Illuminated upon their kids In bed sleeping, appeased Sadly, poor Blinky is nearly dead, Nevermore will she flicker or gleam Soon her tiny incandescent filament head Will be but an electrician’s bad dream Just as her glass vessel was tossed Into the trashcan, ready to be replaced, A used-up thread of cotton dental floss Appeared in front of her 20 watt face “I know you, you're the light bulb fairy, You were always there for my Mistress Mary Provided lighting to floss her white teeth, So she could see the back molars beneath” “Blinky, you delightful bulb, I will never forget Those wonderful desk lamps you turned on as of yet”, At that, the charred old bulb suddenly emitted a glow Twinkling like a star, a golden aura began to grow Brighter grew her intense sparkle Some folks would say it’s remarkable, A miracle perhaps or merely chance? Now Blinky had a new life and romance Ross Floss, the dental strand and her became wed, They lived out their grandest years in Club Med Blinky won a “Best Candle of the Month” award, Ross was the floss of choice for poets and bards They thrived, happily ever after In a home filled with much laughter, Their love survived the common law marriage Strolling with 3 triplets in a neon baby carriage © 3/16/02 SmSI got this "bright" lightbulb idea in the midst of a conversation w/Sheer Poetry!!  She inspires me alot these days w/her unusual but very funny sense of humour and deranged wit, much like my own. Ahem...kiddin'!!! lol She has a very sweet, innocent charm to her (and yet so worldly) hehe. We were talking about lightbulbs for some reason, I forget now...maybe Sheer can "enlighten" you!!! lol OH YEA, now I remember, we were joking about the little lightbulb smiley icon in Trillian, and said I was going to name it...a star was born. Tadda!! The birth of Blinky the Lightbulb! Written March 16th, 2002 © on Mar 21 2002 05:29 PM PST, Sheryl Marcia Schwartz   12 • 4 • 2
