Dickie and Trixie (Adult)

By Lone Poet

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Dick owned a ’55 Harley motorcycle, And lived with his biker chick wife Both of them were very likeable, Together they built a nifty life Every Friday night, they’d go to a bar, Get drunk and play a few rounds of pool Then they’d lay down on the hood of the car, Just looking up at all the bright stars Dick didn’t learn to drive stick shift, So Trixie, his old lady gave him a lift Worked six days a week to earn his pay, But every night they made time for play Dickie was a nickname given by his friends, Met his girl when they were in grade school To this day they know true love never ends, They thought arriving late for class was cool By age 17 they wore jeans and tiedyed tees, And went alone to neck in the drive-in theater At camp, smelled the scent of pine trees, Sang the blues when it was 80 degrees Dick was a big fan of baseball and dames, In summer he sat in the stands watching games The Cubs were his favorite grand slam team, They were living the great American dream Getting home runs, They had so much fun Strolling through the park, Making out after dark Two hippies born in a hick town, Somewhere near Mississippi, in Dixie Corn and wheat fields were sown, Growing up during the early '60’s They’d listen to Fleetwood Mac, Trixie’s darling was Stevie Nicks; Got stoned at Woodstock, screwed in the back Of a pickup truck, way out in the sticks The greatest years of their lives Were when they were younger, Now Dick’s going on forty-five Those good times make him hunger But he still has his mood lamp, And the Woodstock ticket stubs They’ll always remember camp, May to September, and the Cubs Dickie and Trixie still make time for play, And still do it in the back seat of their car Even though they’re starting to turn gray, They still get drunk and gaze up at the stars And Dick still has that old bike, Still wearing the groovy tie-dyes Still going to movies, and well-liked, At least in their friends’ eyes © 1/28/02, 3/17/04 SmSThis is purely fictional...top of head thingy.
