I, Automaton
By Lone Poet
I stare into space I seem to be napping Upon the surface I appear so happy But I’m not… Inside I rot Cold as steel I’m a robot I don’t feel Deader than a machine Animation for a soul My blood is green I bleed for control Disguised as an android My pleasant face is blank These hollow eyes are void Vacant as a boat that sank Automaton is my name I am dumber than clay I know lots of games Do you want to play? My circuit board’s mind goes numb When your fingers have their way That quirky thing you do with your thumb I’ll blindly do anything your orders say I pray to the Gods Who created me Aliens in intergalactic pods Whom I cannot see I was not born From the womb But I forever mourn Trapped within this tomb I don’t drink, I run on a battery And I’ve got no anus to relieve So there isn’t any need to crap or pee I shed no tears, yet I grieve For I shall never be free Humanoids think I’m an oddity Because I was artificially conceived I’ve got a semi-organic plastic body Bionic brain and heart; who would believe? My electronics are on fire A computer program Has gone haywire I’ve got 1400 fast gigs of ram, Master, what is your desire? I follow commands Dutifully do as I’m told Nobody understands These beautiful hands won’t grow old I read only code I have no DNA I’m ready to implode But I shall obey © 1/27/02 SmSThis is a new twist on "I, Robot".
