Judgment Day
By Lone Poet
I've fasted and atoned for my sins, cleansed of every past wrong and misdeed but who says the truth always wins?, there's one too many hungry mouths to feed "who will save your souls when it comes to the end?", who will catch our falls where's my angel to defend? this frightened, lonely little girl and all her gifts she holds so dear, light surrounds the whole wide world but we live each day in dark morbid fear down on my knees praying for our nation, begging you, please for blessed salvation confession of sins sounds easy, only when your faith strongly affirms but grieving just makes me queasy, long as believing's on God's terms will He bring comfort and joy or hang mine out to dry in the pouring rain?, will He let evil burn and destroy all that's good, turned to disdain? I don't understand how this can happen, this patriotic land is sadly misshapen Bible tells us to fight that justice shall prevail, but where is His trusty light when man knows he may fail? Liberty's children are now slayed dead, innocence killed by cowardly acts of greed wonder what bad dream lies far ahead, will we die or be miraculously freed? the truth may hold karmic weight, atonement for grudges seems really nice but who will abolish devilishly cold steel hate, before love's warmth reveals glacier ice?; Upon Judgment Day, who pays Satan's price?
