Merlin's Days (and Knights)
By Lone Poet
Merlin, of a fairy birth, such wondrous enchantment he brought, lucid revelations, mystical secrets, that great victory was fought magnificent wizard, alchemist, prophet from a distant time and place, of a kingdom ruled with honour, Grail's quest reflected upon his face So many long aeons ago he proudly tread majestic, foreign land, Camelot shielded by gallant, noble knights until its final stand empowered the gleaming sword Arthur carried and led him to the throne, legend has it the prince's mighty hands drew Excalibur out from stone Mesmerized fair damsels peered into intense impassioned eyes, tales of dragons, haunted forests, golden fortresses amidst paradise in a glittering cloak of royal hues, echoing divine incantations, Middle ages once home to chivalry and otherworldly reincarnations Beheaded apparitions swept medieval castles, dungeons wreaked of death, eeire visions of what lies beyond, chanted with every waking breath as was since the beginning, he let sorcery be guided by the heart, preordained a son born to be king would be given his rightful start Gaze deeply through your magic crystal and tell all you foresee, what twist of fate beholds mankind that shall unlock its destiny; sacred wisdom, mysteries of pasts, to ourselves we must remain true, omniscience revealed to those deemed worthy, but a fortunate few Swore vengeance on spilt blood, spread word of a young heir to defend, paid the bitter price, romantic fool, claimed by deceipt in the end ladylove captured his tricks of the trade and exiled him to a cave, imprisoned there for an eternity, ageless, as her virtual slave I beckon you, emerge from your nirvana, and electrify your wand, keep strong and brave, drink of freedom's nectar, save the mortal bond Stonehenge ruins now buried in myth, destroyed by greed and war, what tragedy befell the ancient ones, they gathered there no more The future revolves in perpetual motion, paths never cross the same, form the circle, charge the runes, break forth from whence you came raise your arms to lift the curse, massive energy flows within, summon the higher forces that be, the timeline's wearing thin I feel his life force leave me spellbound, illusions tease my mind, master of a phantom art, memories of battles and dreams left far behind; an infinite, spiraling spectrum of glass encompasses space and matter, seek your mirror's doorway to the vast unknown, hurry, lest it shatter A brilliant aura illuminates the heavens, jasmine scents the air, inner essence of harmony and stardust, and a charma forever rare his dark world's a mere celestial haven for the everlasting soul, an image lacking earthly substance, yet spiritually he is whole Merlin, Merlin, turn to your Book of Shadows, for it's said that only the Shadow knows what lurks in the hearts of men, but then again...... The Shadow couldn't know what lurks inside of yours. Godspeed! (c) 5/96, 3/04 SmS Written February 10th, 2002 © on Feb 10 2002 09:13 AM PST, Sheryl Marcia Schwartz 12 • 4 • 1
