Milk and Honey

By Lone Poet

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

In this land of milk and honey the milk is now curdled and sour, Honey's not sweet, but oh, so bitter the land became a withered flower No friendly smiles, no happy grins; Only endless miles of hate and sins War games have begun but this time it's no game, Fixing up our tanks and guns and we know who's to blame Terrorists in flaming planes aboard 4 suicidal flights; Over three thousand slain, world horrified at the sights Sinister hijackers sank a crater hole aimed straight into America's head, To see those great twin towers fall Lady Liberty choked, rolled over dead Died of a broken heart, wounded pride and soul But she is pretty smart, you won't see her bawl Not a tear from her eyes, this old gal can't be killed Inside she secretly cries, but trudges onward uphill 'Cause she knows freedom's ours, the golden land of milk and honey These will be among our finest hours bringing harmony, peace, and money It may take us a little longer but we'll get to the top of the hill, And become that much stronger to swallow life's caustic pill We must allow ourselves to grieve, then move on and boldly fight the war Wear those fierce lion hearts on our sleeve, each day climbing one mighty step more The milk may go sour the honey may be harsh, But we've got the power to destroy evil's farce A man self-proclaimed to be a fellow Muslim, Shunned and shamed no true believer of Islam Made a mockery of his own, those who worship and pray Peacefully together, so alone, now their future looks gray Women and children, innocents who have done nothing wrong, Civilians without real presidency now have no country to belong Enter the land of milk and honey, beauty prevails, no lowly slaves Where the air is clean and sunny, home of the free, land of the brave Creamy as butter, sweeter than sugar, save all our dismayed sisters and brothers Now launch the attack missiles and outdated Lugers, helpful aid from staunch allies and loyal others Bloodstained hands not upon free lands, The best of the best to hell with the rest! Our milk will never spoil and our honey won't dry up, As long as justice toils we'll refill freedom's cup; May Liberty fly high over US soil!! (c) 9/25/01, 3/22/04 SmSDedicated to 911.
