To Each His Own
By Lone Poet
We hate each other Sister and brother We say awful things That bigotry brings To each his own Just leave me alone The root of all evils Isn’t money, but believers We righteously pray to loving pseudo-gods Yet sin and kill, fight fate with steel rods Truth lies in humanity's open heart and mind As faith and hope get shoved up our closed behind © 2/12/02, 3/11/04 SmSThis was not to imply that anyone's deity is better or more "real" than others...or that there are "fake" gods. I respect almost all religions, even 'tho I may not agree with them...unless they promote hate and evil. All I ask is that you respect mine, too. I meant the poem rhetorically, as the teachings of someone who practices hate and bigotry and sin...then says they worship "God"...in my opinion, is a hypocrite...as no truly loving, forgiving and righteous God would promote evil beliefs or tell anyone to kill and hate other religions simply for being different than theirs. They are basically mocking their creator, using His/Her/It/ET's name in vain by saying they were told to perform such crimes or disrespect by their "God". So in essence their gods are "pseudo" which means "fake" or "a person who makes deceitful pretenses" or "not genuine but having the appearance of", or it's the followers who are not genuine, not true to themselves or to the loving God they are supposedly bowing down to. Sorry for the confusion...did any of this make sense? Think I just made everyone more confused (and madder) than they were. Peace, love and fairy dust.
