“My Path in the Woods”
By Mac
The path in the wood of my own making Winding among old broken stone fences Shaded by black walnut and mulberry trees Down by small branch of Popcorn creek Where wild turkey, deer and squirrel Perhaps a cotton tailed rabbit or two Frequent the meandering trails Their company occasionally I keep The design one of my choosing Cut from the fabric of deep forest Hand woven with practiced care Tailored to fit a man’s needs My path lined by gooseberry bush And laced with blackberry thorn Where I may stroll in my leisure Content in the woods of my home Written October 4th, 2001 © on Oct 04 2001 11:38 AM PST, RD McManes 0 • 13
