Forever Again
By Mike Lane
She has come to visit- yet she is the only one in the room- Candles flicker- the light is low- memories illuminate with a soft warm glow- sitting there on the mantel- is really what she has come to see- to hear, to touch, to feel- she longs to hold it- bring it closer to her breast- two hearts beating- two souls pleading- let them say what they will- and the sights and sounds of the old fragile clock- bring grandma back home for a couple of minutes again- lost in thought, going back in time- the light grows dim, it is finally time to go- she'll be back to visit that room- stand there all alone- embrace the familial rhythms forever again- once more- Written October 12th, 2001 © on Oct 12 2001 08:11 AM PST 0 • 10
