My 'best friend' all but called me a slut
By missmfa
My "best friend" all but called me a slut. My temper called her a doctor after giving her a concussion. My horoscope suggested a visit to a well-known psychoanalyst and gave me a business card with her morning, midday and midnight telephone numbers plus a ten-percent discount if I brought along a male friend, preferably the one causing my current "distress". My dreams featured fences. My mother shook her head and filled mine to the brim with subtitled pictures of the latest analogy between men and dogs. I emptied mine soon after. My father barked. My sister wanted to know who had finished all the hot water and why the toilet seat was up. My eardrums became tired from all these drummings so I gave them the day off. Then: My male friend and I took off into the silent, serene sunrise. This poem is based on a true story - my true story - so don't mind too much if the meaning of the poem escapes you:-) Written October 11th, 2001 © on Oct 10 2001 11:31 PM PST, Mildred Achoch 18 • 0 • 10
