A flock of birds A flock of birds flew thru blue haze today. I watched them as they winged thru April sky near Jack's Knob moving north upon their way toward a destiny beyond my eye. Perhaps they've come from whence my heart still yearns & go someplace where poetry awaits or to a beach where sand in sunlight burns before the tide returns as is its fate-- before the day turns black & hides the sea-- before the words I seek, too, flee to night-- before the wind that chills, chills all of me. I pause to watch then later I shall write. Then may the words, that I will write tho few, rise up to sky on wings & fly past you...
