A poem is not always a mt
By mtpoet
A poem is not always a mt of words with a peak where the poet sits at night able to see starlight beyond the city's unnatural brighter than day streets. Far off & to the north, the blinking red from a traffic tower above Wolf Creek Dam is not always a poem either, but trout swimming in shallow pools might come close if images in a poet's mind can be relayed to the eye of the reader. If images fail, perhaps the sound of bare feet on wood floors in a studio never visited might suffice when they are heard late at night when the poet comes calling-- uninvited like a thief. The poet-- if he could choose-- might become the new scent in some room carried in & left to mark briefly his passing-- a scent of crossing open fields, the making of one's way thru stony dark on knees with outstretching hand in anticipation of finding in that room the warm feel of soft skin as familiar to his touch as would be the word.
