Poetry Philology

By Myra Lochner

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

POETRY PHILOLOGY is a poetry style which stimulates language creativity.  The poem is constructed by the use of single words, nouns or verbs, which are linked as follow: suffix of first word, becoming the prefix of the following word, and so further. It is important to plan according to a definite theme. The title may be structurally part of the body of the poem. A more "free floating" approach may lead to serindipity/ interesting effects. This chain poem lends itself well towards collaboration. It may also be used in small groups for competitive language creativity. Enjoy!
