Starving

By Nariah

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

How can we Women demand to be seen and heard and then starve oursleves until we barely show up against the sun? How can we Women speak out against America's image of us and then spend our last dollars attaining it? How can we Women know what this does to our daughters yet condone the degridation and pretend not to notice the stench of vomit in our bathrooms? And how come I, knowing this, still find a part of me- a growth- an infection of this all encompassing disease cursing the extra curves of my otherwise healthy, beautiful body?
