A Train,Athought,and a Vow

A Train ,A Thought and A Vow By Stephanie Linderman Piercing through the darkness of the cool blackened skies of the night, my ears capture the sound of a train whistle blowing purposefully a warning of impending danger. Growing nearer with every second and louder with every blow of its sharp high pitched tone, My heart pounding with anticipation of its arrival. Suddenly as the train neared I found my thought turning to my life and how in comparison to this moment in time my life was so like this train, trudging forth in the darkness’ of the night, not knowing what dangers may lay ahead. Will it be a safe and uneventful trip or will some were along the way something unforeseen cross my path throwing me off my tracks. Will at the end I hear screeching high pitched sounds of death and find myself among the mangled and shredded wreckage of what use to be my life, with on lookers shaking there heads and saying ………. Oh what a pity, Oh what a waist of life she was. I do not know now……….. But as the sound of the train whistle faded off into the darkened skies from wince it came until there was no trace that it was ever there or that it even ever existed I think this one last thought……”I vow to God above and to the air I breath that, I shall never be that train” © on Jun 02 2001 09:57 AM PST 0 • 12
